Lucknow: The city of Nawabs, Lucknow, will witness a fierce match between two traditional rival football teams, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, for the first time. This match will be played on September 2 at the capital’s K.D. Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium.

State Sports Director R.P. Singh said  that preparations have been intensified for this match between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal on September 2. This match will be played under floodlights.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also come to watch the match. He said that for the first time in Lucknow, a match will be played between two big football teams of the country. There is a possibility of 10 thousand spectators gathering in it.

As part of preparations for the match, the testing of floodlights installed recently in the stadium has been started. Apart from this, dressing rooms and other facilities are being arranged for the players.

R.P. Singh said that All India Football Federation President Kalyan Chaubey had recently met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. During this, he had expressed the need to promote this game in the state, stating good possibilities of development of football in the state.

During this time, he also proposed to hold a match between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in the capital. The government has accepted it. The Sports Director said that both the teams will reach Lucknow on September 1. He said that this is a very encouraging step in terms of promoting football in the state.
